ART IS ESSENTIAL

“Art is a wound turned into light.” ~ Georges Braque

This time of social distancing provides all of us the opportunity to reflect on what brings joy and meaning to our lives. For so many of us, this time deepens our belief that Art is Essential. Only Art can lead you to the most positive side of life. Especially now, people are turning to the arts: reading, writing, making art, dancing, acting, playing music, even enacting Old Masters’ paintings at home. We need the arts to understand and express the human experience. We believe that visual arts have become more important than ever in our lives through this challenging situation.

Like everyone we, the members of Calcutta Painters have accepted the challenge of this time. We have cancelled our physical exhibition and have organised it on the virtual platform for this year. We are showcasing our most recent works on the website artwaveindia.com and we are extending our thanks and gratitude to the organiser of this website for their kind supports.

This pandemic situation is a great learning session for us. We also can see that all human have come down to the same platform with the same state of mind. Once again human race may understand the feeling of same commune in the deepest crisis of the world. In this historical show the works reflect different dimensions and issues of this time. I am sure all the visitors would enjoy this show as they might be able to get into their own introspection through this display.

On behalf of everyone from Calcutta Painters, I thank you and wish you good health and spirits. Supporting each other, we are a strong and resourceful Art community. I look forward to the day when we will share space, time, and creative inspiration once again.

With much hope and warm wishes,

Subrata Ghosh
(Secretary, Calcutta Painters)
